To swim with dolphins and seals at Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula is to feel earth's greatest moments. In their natural habitat, south of Melbourne, you can watch these creatures, hear them, and delight in them. The resident dolphins and seals of Port Phillip Bay can't wait to meet you!
Experience a 1/2 day activity swimming with wild seals and dolphins only 90 minutes south of Melbourne. You will experience snorkelling alongside friendly fur seals and watch wild dolphins swim freely all around you. Your adventure begins at Sorrento Pier where you collect all your snorkelling equipment and step aboard your luxury tour boat to experience a magical three hour adventure.
Your cruise commences with an introductory on-board snorkel demonstration, after which we travel out into the sheltered shallows of Port Phillip Bay viewing the pristine coastline and cliff top mansions.
Arriving at Chinaman's Hat where you can put your newfound skills into action, this is a local spot where the ever curious Australian Fur Seals are waiting to share their underwater world with you.
From Chinaman's Hat, we cruise over to Popes Eye, (Marine National Park) for a look at the Australasian Gannets and a snorkel with the vast array of colourful fish inhabiting the marine park. From here on, we cruise magnificent Port Phillip Bay in search of the inspiring Bottle Nose Dolphins. When the dolphins are located, it's on with your mask and snorkel and you enter the water, swimming into their domain. This is truly an awesome experience and one you will never forget.

Our guests have been enjoying our 94% success rate of swimming with the dolphins, it must be appreciated that there are no guarantees or refunds, as they are wild animals.

Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula - 90km south of Melbourne.
Session Length
Cruises operate daily from the end of Sep - May each year. Cruises are three hours in duration. We recommend that you book at least one week in advance of your preferred date. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to your scheduled departure. Cruises run 7 days a week.
Guidelines:
You don’t have to be an expert swimmer or even snorkelled before; our expert guides will ensure you are comfortable and safe at all times in the water. For Children’s prices see MD434
Numbers:
Cruises may have a minimum of 10 guests and a maximum of 30 swimmers on each tour, however there is never more than 10 guests in the water at any one time with the dolphins.
Spectators:
Whether you choose to swim or sightsee you will have a wonderful experience, sightsee tickets are available MD644.
Weather:
All cruises are weather dependent. Please provide a mobile phone number so that we may contact you on the day of your cruise. If cruises are cancelled due to weather, we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know. Cancelled experiences will be rescheduled for a later date.

It was fabulous!! Awesome day, very friendly and approachable crew, Owen & Ben were fabulous. The wet suits were in good condition, it was a very pleasant surprise to be served drinks and fresh fruit and it was wonderful to have the option to purchase food/drinks.

It was an amazing experience, and we probably wouldn't have done it if I had not seen it on the RedBalloon gift site, because that is where I was looking for a gift for my mother 77th birthday present. The guys on the RedBalloon Dolphin Trip, especially Jamie, were amazing in helping my mother in and out of the water and sticking by my eleven year old nephew who was very nervous.

The crew were lovely and helped make the day special! The snorkeling by the rocks was great and so was the seals...we were lucky and did get to see the dolphins, although it would have been nice to have been able to stay in the water longer with them.

This was one of the best day trip experiences I've ever had! The crew on the Mooraker were helpful, friendly and fantastic. The experience itself was amazingly 'close-to-nauture' and great fun. It was a privilege to be allowed into the world of Port Phillip Bay's wildlife. To be in the water and swim with the seals was breathtaking but then to have the dolphins choose to come and swim around us was completely humbling. I loved the experience and rate it as one of the best things that I have done.

We had an amazing time swimming with the dolphins and seals. The staff on the boat were incredibly friendly and helpful. They all made sure that we were able to see the dolphins as close as possible, without compromising these animals in their world. I would definitely recommend this and I will most certainly be doing it again in the future. What an honour it was to be able to spend time with these amazing mammals in their own habitat.

We really loved the whole experience from the bright clean roomy boat to the accurate sizing up for wetsuits by crew, the organised and friendly crew, the knowledge consideration and care that they showed for each passenger.

The dolphins were amazing, although due to a full boat, we only got a couple of minutes in the water with them so not really long enough. I would have preferred to skip swimming with the seals to spend more time with the dolphins. Still a great experience though and the staff aboard were fantastic!

I had so much fun on my experience and the staff were easy to understand and really made the day one to remember. The experience itself was amazing being so close to the seals, fish and dolphins in their own environment. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who is interested or has a love of animals.

Our experience was fantastic from start to finish. The staff were all very friendly and eager to help with any questions you may have. Being able to jump into the open water and have dolphins swimming all around us was just phenomenal - we could even hear them talking to one another. This was a present for my 40th birthday and it is a day that I will never forget. I can't wait to do it again!

The tour staff were very friendly, energetic, informative and ensured everyone enjoyed the trip. The provided great advice for experienced and inexperienced swimmers and snorkelers alike, helped the young kids on the day get the most from their experience and did everything they could to make sure everyone had a great seal and dolphin encounter. I would definitely do this again, and encourage anyone who is thinking about it to give it a try!

The experience of swimming with the dolphins and seals was literally breathtaking! Having previously snorkeled offshore with marine life I rate this adventure as good as times I've spent around the world, and in my own backyard! A big thank you to the fantastic gents onboard who made it all just that much better! A true 10/10

It was an amazing feeling being with the dolphins and seals in their natural habitat. The amount of time spent on each activity was perfect. The activity guides were really friendly and easy going which made it much more comfortable and fun. They were very good at explaining how to use equipment such as the snorkels and what to do when in the water. The equipment was of good quality; I didn't have any problems with anything. I really enjoyed my experience!!

The day my father and I went out was a beautiful summers day and the cruise was great, employees friendly and well prepared. Although we did not see any dolphins that day we did get to snorkel with marine life and seals.... The only thing I would recommend for anyone wanting to do this is if you have your own wetsuit-take it and take a jumper or light jacket as even though it was a hot day the water is very cold....

When I handed my Redballoon voucher to the boat operators they commented on how nice it was to deal with Redballoon. They said the presentation of the company was professional and they always paid on time. I was pretty impressed by that. The seal interaction was amazing. They were literally inches from me in the water playing. The trick is to not act too interested in them and their natural curiosity mAkes them come to you. If you chase them they will swim off.
