Tall ship sailing... a Sydney Harbour cruise with a difference. Take a trip back in time and sail past some of Sydney harbour's finest attractions on an 1850s style timber tall ship. If time is scarce, this cruise is perfect for taking in some of Sydney’s iconic sites from the world famous harbour.

The tall ship is a magnificent square rigger built in 1922 that has three masts reaching over 24m high. This experience can be as interactive as you wish. If you’d like to heave on a rope and help set the sails, you can. Otherwise you can simply sit back, relax and enjoy the entertainment provided by the crew, chef and the barman, all of whom are at your service.

The ship departs from the Sydney CBD and sails past many of Sydney Harbour’s best attractions. Cruise on past Sydney’s iconic landmarks - the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, Fort Denison, Garden Island, Taronga Zoo, Luna Park and Admiralty House. We cruise up to Watsons Bay and return back to the harbour under sail.

The vessel served as flagship of the Bicentennial First Fleet reenactment voyage from Plymouth, England in 1988 and is now the last of these heroic ships to remain on Sydney Harbour. 200 years ago, a timber sailing ship was the only way to discover Sydney Harbour. And it still is!

Activity Highlights:

  • Photo opportunities of the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Taronga Zoo and Luna Park
  • Learn about the history of Sydney Harbour and viewing from a waterfront perspective.
  • Be part of the crew and help set the sails
  • Opportunity to help the captain steer the ship (great photos!)

What’s Included:

  • Complimentary Appetisers - Spinach and cheese triangles, grilled chorizos
  • 1 hour and 15 min sailing Experience on an authentic Tall Ship
  • Hands on sailing or simply sit back and relax

From my standpoint a feature of the day was the friendliness and appropriateness of the two main staff on the ship. Whilst I think the cost is reasonably good value, to travel a little further down the harbour towards the heads, adding perhaps 30 minutes or so to the trip would be a drawcard that users would share with others and good publicity. All in all though, a perfect gift for family, friends or awards. Thank you.
