Flying in formation behind your launch aircraft you reach 3000 feet, pull the release, peel off and trim to cruising speed. Experience the wonder of gliding, learning how to control the aircraft, banking left and right. This is flying in its purest form.

To start your gliding introductory flight, you will be met by the Duty Instructor and be shown around the glider and explained the controls. Our fleet consists of modern two seat fibreglass Grob 103 sailplanes. You are strapped in the front seat, with a qualified instructor in the rear and launched by a power plane to about 3,000 feet.

The instructor conducts the launch and release and then (if you like) it will be your turn to try your hand at gliding. Shallow and sharp turns, slow speed and high speed runs or just enjoy a peaceful flight over the countryside. The choice is yours.

When it is time to land, see what it is like to join the circuit and do a pinpoint landing! This will be followed by a debrief and your friends and family will be able to photograph your adventure.

This experience voucher is valid for 12 months from date of purchase.

Venue:

45 minutes from the centre of Adelaide, conveniently located next to the Gawler Township.

Session Length

The flight lasts from 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the weather. If you wish to stay airborne longer extra time will be charged at club rates. We operate every weekend with a limited operation some weekdays.

Guidelines:

Gliding is open to almost everyone. Our only restrictions are that you be no more than 6’6’’ in height and 110 kg in weight.

Numbers:

For groups, please book your flying day in advance so extra aircraft can be made available.

Spectators:

Spectators are more than welcome. We provide undercover seating. Your friends are encouraged to photograph the event.

Weather:

The club operates year round with few days lost to inclement weather. Voucher holders need only book another day if the weather unsuitable for flying.

Other Info:

Customers will need to fill out and sign an Introductory Membership Application to the Gliding Federation of Australia and abide by the conditions therein.

    We found the instuctors and all concerned very helpful, friendly and courteous. We felt very safe whilst flying with the instructor. I understand it was a very busy day for the airdrome so everybody was stretched with time, but it made it a very long day for us and we did a lot of waiting around and on a hot day it was a bit tedious. But we did enjoy the flying and the total experience overal made a very good and memorable day for us all. THANKYOU!!

    Booking in via the website and at the venue was a breeze. I was made to feel very welcome and was well briefed before taking to the air for an absolutely exhilarating experience which included nervously taking the controls for a short while. What a blast!

    The hosts could not have done more to help things along for a complete stranger. The trainer I flew with was exceptionally knowledgeable, and took pains to answer my numerous technical questions, and demonstrate the answers in practice. Great job!

    Highly enjoyable experience with helpful and competent gliding instructor. Web directions to the gliding site need some improvement It was mystifying to find a sign to report to the office and find nobody there. Instructions on the web should include to drive past this to where the gliders are launched

    Brilliant Experience Fantastic weather Very friendly people.     I had a fantastic time and couldnt wait to post the photos on facebook. I've already had a friend ask me how they could do it so I've sent them the link to RedBallon for bookings.     Excellent experience. Only suggestion to someone considering it, let the guys know in advance if you want to do aerobatics so they can put the right wing tips on before hand.

    The gliding was a fantastic experience the pilot and team at the Soaring Club were friendly and provided first class service. Everything was explained and I had a wonderful time. My family were also welcomed and made to feel part of the team and experience the day. Highly recommend to others to have a go.
